Biography


Jhumon Chowdhury is an accomplished international affairs and legal advocacy professional with extensive experience in higher education leadership, social protection services, and women’s rights advocacy across Bangladesh and the United Kingdom. His career reflects a strong commitment to strengthening global academic collaboration, advancing human rights, and supporting vulnerable communities affected by domestic abuse, trafficking, and displacement.

She currently serves as Advisor (International Affairs) at the University of Global Village (UGV), Barisal, where he contributes to the university’s international partnerships, strategic global engagements, and academic exchange initiatives. Prior to this role, She was the Head of International Affairs at UGV from 2018 to 2022, during which time She  played a pivotal role in expanding the institution’s international footprint and collaborative academic network.

In the United Kingdom, Jhumon worked with AWRC (Changing Women’s Lives) in London, where She served as a Specialist Housing Advocate (2023–2024) and previously as a Specialist Floating Support Advocate (2022–2023). In these roles, She supported women experiencing domestic abuse by helping them access safe housing, legal assistance, and essential support systems to rebuild safety, autonomy, and stability in their lives.

Earlier, as Project Coordinator at the Bangladesh National Woman Lawyers’ Association (BNWLA) in Dhaka (2015–2016), Jhumon coordinated anti-trafficking initiatives, including the repatriation, reintegration, and rehabilitation of trafficked women and children. She also contributed to the Missing Child Alert (MCA) project in collaboration with national and international human rights partners.

Alongside her advocacy and administrative experience, Jhumon has a strong background in education.She served as a Lecturer at IGMIS (Affiliated with National University) in Chattogram (2017–2018), teaching subjects in business and management such as Strategic Management, Human Resource Management, International Business, Commercial Law, and E-Commerce. Additionally,She has worked in private legal practice as a Legal Advisor in London from 2012 to 2015.
